It seems like we’re about to witness a major technological leap that could make us say, “how far we’ve come.” While phones with lots of buttons were once preferred, new leaks suggest that Xiaomi is developing a completely buttonless model. Previously, Xiaomi was rumored to be working on the first buttonless phone with its MIX model, but the brand had abandoned the project. Now, these rumors have resurfaced. Here’s a look at the buttonless phone developed by Xiaomi…
Xiaomi’s First Buttonless Phone: Wangshu
Though a buttonless phone might seem unexpected, Xiaomi appears to have resumed its work in this area. Leaks reveal a prototype of a new device, codenamed Wangshu, which will not feature any physical buttons. According to rumors, the first prototype of the buttonless phone, developed under the codename Zhuque, has been revealed as Wangshu, Xiaomi’s first phone without physical buttons.
The individual who leaked the images also shared some technical details of the device. Allegedly, Xiaomi’s buttonless phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, feature an under-display selfie camera, and support 200W fast charging.
The device, with the MIX logo on both the top and bottom, showcases Xiaomi’s attempt to innovate by eliminating physical buttons. The buttonless phone, which was tested a year and a half ago, has returned to the spotlight, and this time it seems more realistic.
While Xiaomi has tested numerous MIX prototypes in the past, none were released to consumers. However, Wangshu might be the first. Reports suggest that the device being developed under the codename Zhuque will not differ much from Wangshu. The leaked images of Wangshu show a 2K 120Hz LTPO display and a 4500mAh battery. The upcoming Zhuque device is said to feature pressure-sensitive sensors instead of physical buttons.
